I really like being prepared. In fact, when it is 5:30 and I don't know what we're having for dinner, I start to feel a little stressed out. Ashlyn had a pretty busy weekend.  First up was her very first dance recital. She has been in dance class since September.  It was pretty fun to watch her preform on stage to Swinging on a Star. She did great! The following day was our church's Christmas program. She, along with her class, sang their little hearts out to Angels We have Heard on High and one other song.

I recently blogged about our latest breakfast craze....penny pancakes. About once a year I get the itch to start a sewing project.  My problem is, I don't really know how to sew. Thankfully, my mom does and my trip to visit my parents aligned with my desire to get crafty. The Before:  The After: Anna's dresser is finished and I am loving the way it turned out.  I used Glidden's Spanish Olive, available at Home Depot.  The sanding, priming and two coats of paint were all done between the girls' nap time so it took about 3 weeks to complete. This falls in the easy-peesy DIY project category.  Materials: candle holder, plate and Gorilla glue  I found both of these items at a thrift store.   I washed them well (smile) and glued them together with Gorilla glue. Two minutes later and the project was done.  *Just a note, you could use any candle holder or stand. Think about changing the color with spray paint if you like.

There was a woman standing with sign at the end of the off ramp, "Homeless and hungry. Please help."  My 3 year-old asked, "Mommy, is she homeless? Let's give her a doorknob. Six months ago I wrote a blog entry about losing something very special to me.  My Bible.  Since then, I got a new one. One that I really like, a  Life Application Study Bible (NIV). Don't you love when you paint or decorate an area of your house and it just works? Are you like me and just stare at it for the next 24 hours? My latest food discovery is quinoa (pronounced Keen-wah). It is chock-full of protein, calcium and iron as well as many vitamins.
